What People Are Saying…
“Graham Sale has a different take on political cartooning. Not the same old gags and worn formats of old. He mixes sharp humor and intelligence with great effect, wickedly pointing out the hypocrisy spewed by politicians these days. He makes you think. We need that in our political discourse these days.”
—Chris Peck, former Editor of The Commercial Appeal, Memphis
“Crazy Little Thing Called Love” is the best damned book I’ve seen in years. Laughing out loud at these intelligent cartoons is truly a guilty pleasure. If irreverence is a virtue, Graham Sale is a saint.”
—Dan Barker, Co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation and author
Merch: Democracy Needs Our Courage
Straight Up & On The Rocks…
Representative Government?
How can a democracy of over 340 million people, each with unique perspectives, pride itself on independent thinking—yet have only two political parties, most of whose members choose their party early and for life? American democracy was meant to thrive on diversity of thought. Yet, we’ve built a political system that severely limits and often prevents it.
Politics as Warfare
Today, politics isn’t a debate—it’s a war against half the population. The spoils go to the winner, and the losers are treated as enemies. Trump, Stephen Miller, and Republicans are using fear, deception, and violent spectacle to impose their will. They’ve restricted free speech, attacked the press, banned books, and labeled dissenters as threats to the nation. Make no mistake: this is fascism in progress—the same tactics used by Hitler and Mussolini to destroy democracy from within and consolidate unchallenged power.
Supreme Court Destroys Democracy
Unethical Supreme Court rulings, beginning with Citizens United, have deliberately eroded voting rights and undermined checks and balances, taking power away from people and clearing the path for authoritarian power by the few. They’ve done this openly—consolidating control for Trump and the Republican Party. How long before democracy itself becomes a crime? Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. Many Americans already accept these Orwellian contradictions as truth.
The Moral Crisis Within
Could you have imagined that fellow Americans would be against truth, freedom, justice, and democracy? How do you maintain relationships with those who defend cruelty and corruption? Trump and his allies of criminals, liars, rapists, and thieves—aren’t just looting America, they’re tearing it down, piece by piece, for profit, including the East Wing of the White House.
This Isn’t Normal Politics
It’s a moral collapse—a rejection of empathy, fairness, and basic human dignity. When someone’s “beliefs” threaten your safety, your identity, or your rights, it’s no longer a difference of opinion—it’s a moral chasm. How do you look past the acceptance of such cruelty to others in people you care about? How do you reconcile their complicity and hate? It’s mystifying and heartbreaking to see people who claim to be loving and compassionate turn a blind eye to such suffering until, of course, it reaches their own doorstep.
Before It’s Too Late
Democracy doesn’t die overnight. It’s taken one right, one truth, one silence at a time. We must act now to save it while peaceful methods of preventing its demise are still available.
Once freedom is gone—you don’t get to vote it back.
